Edible Forest Garden Nursery and Design in Western New York

We are a family of life long learners who live, play, eat and learn from our forest garden every day in the outskirts of Buffalo, NY. We began experimenting with plant propagation with Chinese Chestnut trees, and the passion grew into more fruiting trees, bushes and vines, and we have grown passionate about sharing these locally adapted, living soil grown plants with our community.

Natalie Bolyard

Permaculture Design Certificate, Permaculture NY

Co-founder of Plant Partners. Natalie is passionate about living intimately within natural forces, and designing our forest garden spaces to grow around each family’s lifestyle. In her garden, she enjoys designing garden elements for children, growing textile dyes, herbal medicinal plants, and experimenting with creative integration techniques for angora rabbits in her urban garden.

Ben Bolyard

BS Engineering, University at Buffalo

Permaculture Design Certificate, Cornell University

Co-founder of Plant Partners. Ben brings a systems-driven approach to ecological design, blending engineering, project management, and hands-on land stewardship. His work focuses on building resilient, productive landscapes that function as integrated systems—where soil, water, plants, and people work together.

With a background in engineering and years of experience managing complex projects, Ben excels at translating big-picture vision into grounded, buildable reality. He is especially interested in infrastructure for small-scale homesteading—fruit tree guilds, water management, soil building, and low-cost, high-impact design strategies that make food forestry accessible.

In the garden, Ben values observation above all else. A cup of coffee on a morning walk helps him tune in to subtle changes in the landscape, while time spent at a quiet bench or hammock allows for meditative contemplation—where creativity is most likely to emerge. He enjoys envisioning spaces across time: 3 months, 1 year, 10 years, and into the next generation.
